I am an experienced reconstructive foot and ankle surgeon with areas of excellence, including arthroscopy of small joints, deformity correction by Ilizarov technique with circular external fixation, and diabetic limb salvage using cutting-edge orthoplastic management of wound defects. I am a regular faculty member and course chairman in the teaching of arthroscopy with the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. I have written on innovative techniques and conduct ongoing research in needle-based arthroscopy to manage distal lower extremity pathology. I am a local and national leader in podiatric surgery, currently serving as division chair of podiatric surgery at Cambridge Health Alliance. I am the past president of the Massachusetts Foot and Ankle Society and current president of the Northeast division of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and soon to ascend to the division president.

I am a regularly invited lecturer to the national annual scientific conference of the American College of Foot and Ankle surgeons, presenting many surgical interventions in foot and ankle care. I am frequently invited to lecture locally on similar subjects. I serve as a consultant to many industry partners in promoting advanced techniques in the surgical management of the distal lower extremity.

I am an experienced section editor for the peer-reviewed Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery and the open journals of EC Orthopaedics, Foot and Ankle Studies, The Scientific Pages of Orthopedics and Rheumatism, Clinics in Surgery – Podiatric Surgery. 

I am highly involved in educating and training future podiatric surgeons by developing research and a cadaveric lab within my institution to train residents and colleagues. I serve as a residency site reviewer for the Council of Podiatric Medical Education with recent participation in the New York College of Podiatric Medicine and Temple School of Podiatric Medicine re-accreditation process. I have been a past board candidate case reviewer for the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. My involvement in residency training has been extensive, promoting ongoing education and research through the promotion of journal club, clinical and surgical training, and developing research opportunities.

Dr. Sharma practices with New York Sports and Joint in the New Jersey/New York area and is the program director at CarePoint Health - Hoboken University Medical Center. She is a Healthtech consultant for Converse Health, a tech company focused on using machine learning/AI for operational efficiency in healthcare. She also founded the Artificial Intelligence Club at Cornell while pursuing her MBA at Cornell University. She has been in practice for 11 years.
